Covenant Protest Prophet Cartoon

What's a Prophet to do?

What's a Prophet to do?

HALO, INSTALLATION 04 – Grunts gathered outside the US embassy Sunday to protest the Washington Post’s printing of a comic deemed heretical to Forerunner faith. The cartoon depicts an anxious Prophet of Truth as he prepares for a homosexual rendezvous.

Under Covenant Law, illustrating the Prophet is punishable by death. While the Washington Post’s legally free to publish the comic within the United States, high-ranking Elites have called the decision “irresponsible” and “inconsiderate” and “totally gay”.

The protest, nearly 500 strong, consisted primarily of bored collegiate Brutes. “This comic’s not funny,” said Jeremy, a particularly angsty Brute who runs an analytical poetry blog. “Does the writer even understand the definition of satire?”

However, a vocal minority of progressive Covenant members have applauded the comic’s content when it is divorced from the controversial religious context. To many believers, the Prophet’s public relationship with Microsoft’s Major Nelson contradicts the faith’s “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

Could this little cartoon be a banner for reform?
